Artistic Director

Christopher Key is a native of San Francisco and the son of a high school dramatics teacher.  As such, his first foray before the footlights came at age three.  He has appeared as an actor and director in community theatre groups across the US and Canada.  Professional experience includes work with the Pink Garter Theatre in Jackson, WY, the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, FL, the Leavenworth Summer Theatre in Leavenworth, WA, the Skagit River Shakespeare Festival in Mt. Vernon, WA, and Nearly Stellar Entertainment in Bellingham, WA.

Since moving to Whatcom County in 1999, he has acted and directed regularly with the Bellingham Theatre Guild, Blaine Community Theatre, Shakespeare Northwest and Stone Town Theatre Works.  He has also been seen in productions at Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College and Lynden Performing Arts Guild.  He serves as past president of Northwest Ballet Theater and often plays character roles in their productions.

Free Key Productions is a natural extension of his long theatrical and musical career.  Christopher assures you that the operative word in the mission statement is “memorable.”  Over the years, he has worked with some of the finest actors and technicians in the area and these will form the core of his company.  FKP is a semi-professional company and generally pre-casts its shows or holds invitation-only auditions.

In addition to his onstage work, Christopher writes his own award-winning blog featuring theatre and music reviews from around the region.
